Phyllis married my Uncle Ed when I was about nine years old. My dad, Chuck would drive down from Seattle for the weekend with his daughters Vicki, Carrie and Wendy and of course the dog in tow. A favorite memory of mine is when Phyllis helped us make a surprise birthday cake for my dad. I convinced her to let me use the hand mixer and promptly caught my long pigtail around one of the beaters winding it clear up to my scalp faster than you can blink. I sobbed like the world was coming to an end. She laughed so hard and showed me how I looked in the mirror until I had to laugh, too. I will always remember how welcome she made me feel, her warm smile and ready laugh. God bless you Uncle Ed and know that I keep you and the entire family in my thoughts and prayers.
