February 12, 1926 ~ July 31, 2016 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Chehalis resident Marjorie “Lorraine” Kearns, age 90, passed away at Providence Centralia Hospital on July 31, 2016.

Marjorie Lorraine Kearns was born Feb. 12, 1926, to Leslie and Maggie (Allen) Dickens, joining sister, Eva and brother, Harold, in the family home in the Lacamas area, near Roy, Washington. Growing up, the little Dickens attended the Lacamas School and graduated from Roy High School, as class salutatorian. She attended Centralia College, where she met James William Kearns, the love of her life. They were married for 64 years, until Jim’s death in 2011.

Lorraine took pride in her penmanship, as it was instrumental in landing her first job. From the early 1950’s into the 1970’s, she did secretarial work for attorney, Lee Campbell, the Washington State Employment Office, Weyerhaeuser Research Center, Callisons and two Federal Savings and Loans.

Lorraine enjoyed arranging flowers, meeting with her garden club, collecting sets of Depression Glass and she took delight in finding bargains as an avid QVC Shopper. For many years, she was active in Centralia First Christian Church and most recently attended Harrison Square Presbyterian Church.

Lorraine is survived by her three sons, Larry (wife, Carol), Les and Dan (wife, LaVerne); five grandchildren, Matthew (wife, Andrea), Jana Lorraine, Craig (wife, Tricia), Aaron (wife, Tessa), and Michelle Lorraine; and five great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Benjamin, Ethan and Emily and baby, James Kearns.
