Wilma Anderson Obituary

Wilma Ruby Anderson, 90 Years, of Olympia, passed away on July 11, 2020.

Wilma was born on March 1, 1930 to Myron and Opal (Simpson) Dingley in Rivera, California.  She married Charles L. Anderson on October 16, 1954 in Yuma, Arizona. Charles and Wilma met in Bellflower, California on a blind date set up by a close friend.  Wilma and Charles spent 65 wonderful years together. They made their homes in southern California in South Gate, Garden Grove and Norco. Wilma and Charles moved to Washington in 1972 and lived in Centralia, Bucoda, Tenino, Tumwater and Olympia.

Wilma was a member of McKenzie Road Baptist Church in Olympia, Washington.

When Wilma’s six children were younger, she sewed their clothes, costumes for Halloween, costumes for school plays, and prom dresses. In later years, she loved making ceramics. She crocheted various items including baby blankets for family and friends’ new arrivals. Wilma and Charles loved to travel, visiting throughout mostly the western states and western Canada. In 1985 they travelled to Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. When their children were younger, they camped in state parks in tents. In later years they had travel-trailers and motor homes. To celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, Charles and Wilma visited the Hawaiian Islands. In recent years they took a cruise to Alaska.

In the years she lived in Bucoda, Wilma was a member of the Booster’s Club. The members raised money for Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Wilma is survived by her loving husband Charles, her children Larry Anderson; Sandra Anderson; Casey Anderson; Teresa (Rodney) Zimmerman and Renee Anderson; grandchildren Kimberly Fenimore; Kennith Anderson; Lyle Anderson; Julie Whipple; Jason Haase; Marissa Meeks; Jennifer Anderson; Rebecca Metoyer; Crista Postil; Joseph Zimmerman; Cody Zimmerman and Tori Severson; and 17 great grandchildren. Wilma is also survived by her sisters Phyllis Appel and Shirley Mort; nephews Mark Kimmey; Eric Mort; Charles Mort; and James Appel.

Wilma was preceded in death by her son Roger Anderson, her Father, Myron F. Dingley; her Mother, Opal Simpson Dingley; her brothers Lloyd Dingley and Donald Dingley.
