William James ‘Bill’ Morris, 67, of Centralia, Wash., passed away at Providence Centralia Hospital Wednesday, January 18, 2023, following a brief illness. Bill was born October 13, 1955, in New London, Conn., to John Robert and Arlene Mabel (Gagne) Morris.
He relocated to this state when he was young and met his true love, Roberta Ann Zakel, in Raymond, Wash. The couple were married in July 22, 1977.
Bill lived an awesome life and wore many hats throughout his working years. From 1970 to 1990, he was an auto mechanic. In 1990, he decided a change was needed and tried his sea legs out as a tugboat engineer. In 2010, he rounded out his career as a log truck driver and business owner, retiring in 2014.
Bill was a family man through and through. He was extremely intelligent and was a great mechanic and woodworker. Bill lived for his family- Roberta and the kids were his world. He enjoyed the ocean; spending time on boats; working outdoors with his family; and spending time helping his brother, Paul, who he looked up to and saw as his best friend.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta; son, William James Morris the Second; and parents, John and Arlene.
He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Annette Morris of Yelm; sons, Johnathon Robert Morris of Centralia and Joshua Michael Morris of Yelm; and siblings, Paul Allan Morris of Centralia and Terry Morris of Raymond.
