Obituary

Sharon Lee Sabin, age 86, of Chehalis, passed away June 9, 2023, after a four year battle with Cortical Basal Degeneration, Mills Syndrome.  She was born October 28, 1936, in Centralia, WA, to Corum and Adeline Richardson.

She was a life time resident of Lewis County and received all her education in Chehalis schools.  Grade school was in the old Cascade school building, junior high in the old R.E. Bennett building, and high school in what is now W.F. West.  She graduated in 1954, and was proud to be part of the class of ‘54.   Some special friends were/are Wilma (Dotson) Matthiesen,  Lorraine (Rayton) Garrison,  Arlene (Arnett) Teeter, Janet (Huber) Roffler, Betty (Ashley) Elder, and many others. She also played an active part in planning class reunions.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dennis and children Vickie Adams(James), Darci Rubart(James), Darren Sabin(Carolyn); her sister Denise Marshall; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dave and Sharen Sabin; her double cousins Donna Unzelman, Marilyn Gilmon, Rita Caporale; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces, nephews;  and many, many friends.

Sharon married Dennis Sabin in May of 1965.  Dennis not only got Sharon but also two beautiful girls named Vicki and Darci.  Darren joined his sisters in May of 1966.  The family early years were spent at the home on Mills Avenue in Chehalis.  Dennis and Sharon then purchased the farm from her aunt Ruth Gossett and built a new home where the family has resided for almost fifty years.

She accepted Jesus as her Savior early in her life and was a very active member of First Christian Church.  She was involved with the women’s group (CWF), was for many years head of the Deaconess group, and was Sunday School Secretary after her mother became disabled.  She had a lovely strong alto voice and sang in the choir for many years.

Her early work experience was at Grandpa Gus Peters strawberry patch on Koontz road, Callisons, Welcome Wagon, and some housekeeping.  She then heard “Avon calling”, and was very proud of her 40 years as an Avon Sales Representative.  She had an outgoing personality which helped her succeed in sales.  This was in addition to being full time mother and house wife.  Some special Avon friends were/are Mary King, Larry & Sally Foister, Jeanie Nygard, Mary Dowling, Carol Erickson, Denise Unzelman, and many others.

The family wishes to thank Caregivers 4 Mom & Dad for the wonderful loving care they provided Sharon.  Special thanks to owners Mike and Betty Kitchen, and caregivers Sheri, Donna, Elaine Tammy, Karma, and Cameron.  You are truly God’s angels and helpers.

Sharon was first a believer in Jesus. But also a strong independent woman, wife, breast cancer survivor, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.  We are blessed for knowing her and being a part of her life.  She will be missed.

A celebration of life for Sharon will be held at First Christian Church, 111 N.W. Prindle in Chehalis on June 29, 2023 at 11:00 A.M.
