Sharon Applegarth Obituary

Sharon Rachel (Cagley) Applegarth passed away on January 22nd, 2024 at the age of 81 surrounded by her family. Sharon was born on November 27, 1942 in Vancouver Washington to Joseph Charles Cagley and Victoria Violet Cagley.  Sharon and her family moved to Wenatchee Washington where she graduated from high school.  Sharon married her High School sweetheart, Larry Applegarth on June 10th 1960. Together they welcomed a daughter, Jeannie Lynn Applegarth and son, Lee  Applegarth. Larry and Sharon were married just shy of 64 years when she passed away.

Sharon loved camping and spending time with her grandkids. Every year for more than 60 years they have camped in the Port Townsend area including Fort Flagler State Park, as many as 50 family members and family friends would attend. Sharon and Larry seldom missed any of their grandchildren’s sports or school activities. They spent Thanksgiving with their daughter Jeannie, Robert and Sarah in California every year. Sharon and Larry are  members of the T90 car club where they showed their 1968 Plymouth Road-Runner and 1939 Chevrolet Canopy Express. Later in life Sharon found joy in making hand-made cards for every family member and friend and never missed a birthday or a special occasion.

Sharon had numerous nieces and nephews that loved her dearly. One of the nieces shared that when they were young and would come to stay with Uncle Larry & Aunt Sharon, Sharon would load them up  in the car and take them to the grocery store and buy them “sugar cereal” which was a special treat, she always had a bowl of candy for any and all who. Came to visit. Sharon shared with me that one time that they took some of the nieces camping and one of the nieces kept crying until Larry & Sharon figured out she just needed to have a light on.

Sharon is survived by her husband Larry at the family home in Rochester, Son Lee (Viki) Applegarth of Elma, Glenn Simmons of Ethel Washington, sister Carol Benson of Wenatchee, and close friends Randy and Cheryl Krogseth of Rochester. Other survivors include 9 grandchildren Kelcy Applegarth of Allentown PA,  Robert Camara of Portland OR, Jamie (Luke) Gearhart of Orting WA, Rachel (Carter) Gorton of Buckeye AZ, Sarah Camara of Kent WA and fiancé Eddie, Misty (Daryl) Aberle of Hoquiam WA, April Martinez of Elma WA, Justine (Larissa) Simmons of Reno NV, Sabrina Sample of Rockwall TX, 6 great grandchildren, Ava and Summer Gorton of Buckeye AZ, Lauryn and Ashlyn Aberle of Hoquiam WA, Mason Martinez of Elma WA and Aiden Gunkel of Rockwall, TX, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and amazing friends that she considered family as well.
