Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Sarah Belle Thompson passed away on March 29, 2024 at the age of 87. She was born in Fairfax, South Carolina on October 25, 1936, to Ira & Sara Belle Mixon. She lived in South Carolina throughout her young adult life and attended Lander College earning her BA Degree in Business. Sarah moved to Washington in 1961. She worked as a Research Analyst for the state of Washington for 26 years. Sarah loved sports and supporting her favorite athletes, which included her immediate family as well as her grandchildren. She was an avid Duke fan, great bowler and loved to learn. She spent many hours reading and doing crossword puzzles. Sarah married her best friend Richard Thompson in 1971 and lived a happy life here in Centralia. They loved to travel and would often spend time at their favorite casinos and beaches. Her daughter Sherri Hansen (Lonnie); son Bob Peters (Shawn); several grandchildren and great grandchildren survive her. She was preceded in death by her father, Ira Mixon; mother Sara Belle Moody; husband Richard Thompson and son Rick Peters. A celebration of life for Sarah will be held on April 28, from 1:00 – 3:00 at the Newaukum Grange, 104 Brown Rd. E, Chehalis. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the American Cancer Society to support breast cancer research.
