Obituary

Richard “Dick” Jacobson left this earth to run with the horses thundering across the sky on July 16, 2023. Dick was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 11, 1928. In his younger years, Dick spent his free time swimming, skiing, or playing a few rounds of golf. Always proud of his country, just one month after graduating from Clover Park High School, Dick joined the Marines in 1946 and later served in the Naval Reserves.

While he lived many places when he was younger, when he moved to Centralia in 1974, he knew he found his home. It was here that he built his ranch, raising horses and farming the land. When he wasn’t working the land, he would sit and watch eagles soaring above his grazing horses while his kittens and dogs kept him company. He always said that “Every day on my ranch is a vacation.”

He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Jacobson and his mother, Elsa Jacobson. He is survived by his brother Gordon, and the many he counted as friends.

Graveside services will be held at Grand Mound Cemetery on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 2:00pm. A celebration of life gathering to follow at 7300 Prather Rd SW, Centralia.
