Centralia resident Richard Dale Thompson, age 87, passed away at Providence Centralia Hospital on January 31, 2020.
He was born on March 2, 1932 to Clifford and Annabell (Kitchen) in Centralia Washington. Richard worked as a mechanic for a bowling alley. On August 23, 1971, he married Sarah Peters (Mixon) at the Thurston County Courthouse in Olympia.
He was a loving father and followed all of his son's basketball games. Robert knew of his father's love for basketball as well as his appreciation for Coach K as a Duke's fan. Richard also loved clam digging because he just loved seafood and crab was his absolute favorite. He also loved bowling, horseracing, casinos, and tinkering with things. He never wanted any help because he had duck tape and glue. He was a wonderful man who never said anything bad about anyone.
Richard is survived by his loving spouse, Sarah; two daughters, Rhonda Kearns and Sherri Hansen, two sons; Richard Peters and Robert Peters (Shawn), sister, Joan Westphal; five grandsons, Brian Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Nicholas Peters, Christian Peters, and Dylan Hansen, four granddaughters; Trisha Noel, Erin Verley, Hillary Hull, and Bailey Peters, and numerous great-grandchildren.
