Luella Lavila Klein
Was born on March 9, 1929 to Louise Eckman and Christ Klein in Ashley, North Dakota.
The family moved to South Dakota where Luella and her brother Willy were raised.
Christ was hospitalized with the grip, now known as the flu. He died in the hospital of pneumonia.
Louise Eckman later married Daniel Pressler. He brought 5 more children into the household.
On December 5, 1952, Luella married Clifford Inman, son of Arthur Inman and Effie Mae Francis. They moved from South Dakota to California and settled in Lakewood, just outside of Long Beach.
Within the year, their son Danny was born in 1953.
Clifford worked as an electrician; Luella was a homemaker. Seasonally, she worked at a bakery as a cake decorator.
Luella and Clifford then moved to Newcastle, Utah where they lived in the house they built for 37 years. During that time, Clifford developed cancer and passed on April 23, 2012.
Luella lived as a widow in their house for 10 years. There came a time when she could no longer live alone.
She called Melinda, Danny’s wife, and asked if she could come live with us in Washington. We welcomed her with open arms. Life was good and Luella was thriving, despite missing her home.
Then in April 2023 time caught up with her. She was hospitalized with failing health, on April 17th, Luella passed peacefully at 5:45am.
Luella lived 94 years, 2 months, and 2 weeks.
During Luella’s 9 months with us, she gained 22 pounds, developed a strong liking for Starbucks. The Peppermint Mocha with lots of whip was her favorite. She also really enjoyed sushi, salmon was her favorite, she often said “Never in my life did I ever think I would eat raw fish!” But she did!
We would like to acknowledge the following for their compassion and taking the time to reach out that meant so much to us.
