Linda Ropka Obituary

Linda S. Ropka, of Chehalis, passed away May 28, 2021, in Seattle, WA.
Linda was born to John H. Smouse and Marjorie R. Hamill in Keyser, WV on August 16, 1944 and was raised in Oakland, MD.  She graduated from Perryville (MD) High School in 1962. She earned her BS in Education from Columbia Union College in 1967.  
Linda was happily married to Dr. Mark G. Ropka for 53 years.  
Linda was a resident of Chehalis, WA for 45 years.  She enjoyed painting, cooking, sailing, traveling, and socializing with family and friends. Linda was an accomplished watercolor artist.  She shared her love of art with many students and her grandchildren.  Linda and Mark loved sailing on their boat and exploring the inland waterways of Washington, British Columbia, and Alaska.
Linda was a member of the Chehalis Seventh-Day Adventist Church.  She was also active in the NW Watercolor Society and the Chehalis St. Helens Club.
Linda is survived by her husband Mark; two sons, Benjamin and Michael; four grandchildren, Alexander, Annaliese, Kyuss and Alabama; daughters-in-law Sandra and Kindra; brother, Geoffrey; and three sisters, Elizabeth, Jacquelyn, and Teresa.
A viewing will be held at Newell-Hoerling’s Funeral Home on Saturday, June 5, 2021 between 1:00 – 4:30pm.  
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Linda’s name to the Cambodian Children’s Fund (cambodianchildrensfund.org).
