Gaylend Merell Wilmovsky

Long time Centralia resident Gaylend Merell Wilmovsky, age 82, passed away, surrounded by
his loving family, at Providence St. Peter hospital in Olympia on March 25th 2019.

He was born
to Elmer and Ella (Wood) Wilmovsky on August 15th 1936 in Velva North Dakota. He attended
and graduated Centralia high school, after college he went to work as program director for
Green Hill School in Chehalis Washington for 31 years. On August 19th 1960 he married
Karolyn kuper at the first United Methodist Church in Centralia, and raised his loving family on
his farm on fords prairie.

Gaylend is survived by his loving wife of 59 years; Karolyn Wilmovsky,
two sons; Todd Allen Wilmovsky (Tanya) and Brian Lee Wilmovsky (Kelly), four grandsons;
Jacob, Kuper, Conner, and Ethan Jett Wilmovsky, Granddaughter; Hunter Wilmovsky, Great
Grandson; Jamie Wilmovsky and brother Bill (Victoria) Wilmovsky, Cousins; Silvia Grey, and
numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; Elmer and Ela (Wood) Wilmovsky, and sister; Frances Larson.

Gaylend traveled the world seeing France, Spain, Italy, Morocco, Greece, China, and the South
Pacific. Gaylend was a master gardener at the borst, and received his 30 year certificate of
service. He was a collector of antique tractors and engines, and was a boater taking a two
month sailing adventure through the inland passage to Alaska with his loving wife Karolyn. He
was a volunteer firefighter at the Fords prairie fire department. He coached youth football and
baseball, and loved watching his brother, sons, and grandsons play football and basketball. He
enjoyed taking gold digging trips in Nome Alaska, and went often with his friend Dave Beck. He
also had special friends Jim and Jane Lyons, Morrie and Jane Folsom, Bob Rictcher, Gene and
Lynda Meyers, and Jim and Myrna Sines whom he had breakfast with every sunday morning at
Judys in Centralia Washington. His impact on people was far reaching throughout his life. His
wisdom, wit, and counsel touched many.

His memorial service will be held Sunday April 7th at
the first United methodist church in Centralia at 3:00 P.M. In addition to flowers, donations can
be given to the mountain view church of nazarene in Tumwater washington specifically for kids
to attend summer camp.
