Dora Hansen Obituary

Dora Marie (Jones) Hansen returned to her loving Heavenly Mother and Father on Wednesday, April 6, 2022.

Dora was born to Vernon Lowell Jones and Caroline Charlotte (Hindberg) Jones in Sandpoint, Idaho, on October 11, 1954. Throughout her childhood, her father worked in construction resulting in the family living in many places throughout Washington, Idaho, and Montana. Dora often shared many memories of her youth, her parents, and her three sisters.

Dora graduated from Clarkston (Wash.) High School in 1972. Following high school, she moved to Colfax, Wash., where she worked and met her future husband, Bruce Hansen. They were married in Colfax on August 28, 1976, and later sealed in the Seattle Washington LDS Temple for time and eternity. To their union, Dora and Bruce were blessed with five children, Nicole Irene, Joelyn Marie, Donnelle Caroline, Bruce Robert, and Taylor Ashley.

Dora and Bruce lived in Port Townsend, Chehalis before building their home in Centralia, Wash., where they have resided for the last 38 years.

Dora was a devoted wife and mother. She was strongly committed to her family. She was proud of her children and was actively involved in her children’s lives, including spending many volunteer hours in the classroom, attending concerts, sporting events and graduations, sewing prom dresses, cooking delicious home-cooked meals, and overall creating a warm and loving home. She was their cheerleader, role model and mentor. She also was a strong support and companion to her husband. They were devoted to one another and loved and cared for each other throughout their marriage.

Dora’s greatest joys came from being a grandmother. She loved the arrival of a new grandbaby. She loved traveling to see her grandchildren and she loved when her grandchildren would come and spend time with her in Washington.

Dora was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a strong faith and love of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She served in many capacities in the church throughout her life, including service in the Relief Society, Young Women’s, and Primary organizations. She and Bruce also served as temple workers at the Seattle LDS Temple. She participated in many church choirs, road shows, and other church events throughout the years. The Centralia Ward and Stake became a second family to Dora as she developed many long-lasting relationships and friendships with people in the ward and throughout the stake.

Dora was creative in many ways, having developed a love and talent for arts and crafts. She spent many hours sewing, cross-stitching, and creating handmade gifts and greeting cards for her family and friends. She loved getting together with friends to craft. She and Bruce also had the opportunity to travel to many countries and continents throughout the world, including Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America. She loved learning about the different cultures and meeting people throughout the world.

Dora will be remembered for her many talents, her wit, her faith, her ability to speak her mind and her unwavering love for her family.

Dora is preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, Rulon and Edith Hansen, brothers-in-law, George Hansen and Ted Reniker. She is survived by her husband, Bruce; her five children, Nicole (Michael) Schwartz of Kaysville, Utah, Joelyn Hansen (TJ Smith) of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Donnelle (Tyson) Cochran of Massillon, Ohio, Bruce (Kellie) Hansen of Onalaska, Wash., and Taylor (Micah) Johnson of Rawlins, WY.; Peggy Jones of Chesaw, Wash., Debbie (Dennis) Hutchins of Kennewick, Wash., and Susan Dent of Richland, Wash; her in-laws, Judith Thompson of Ogden, Utah, Leon (Shelly) Hansen of Farmington, Utah Jean Reniker of Syracuse, Utah and Vicki Hansen of Ogden, Utah, her grandchildren, Ryan Schwartz, Nathan Schwartz, Julia Schwartz, Declan Cochran, Colby Hansen, Erickson Cochran, Charlotte Hansen, Tobin Cochran and Blaire Johnson; and multiple nieces and nephews.
