We mourn the passing of a beloved Son, Husband, Father, Teacher, and Coach. Darrin Roy Canfield, 54, of Rochester. He passed away March 6, 2020 at home.
He was born on April 13, 1965 in Spokane, WA, and was adopted shortly after by Donald and Elaine Canfield (Hamilton) along with his twin brother, Dwayne. He attended elementary through high school in Rochester, graduating at the top of his class. After high school Darrin attended Centralia College, transferring to Western Washington University to obtain his BS in Math/Computer Science. He went on to obtain his teaching credentials from The Evergreen State College. Darrin worked as a teacher at Centralia High School for 26 years where he taught math and, more recently, computer science and robotics. During his time at Centralia High School he was involved with coaching football, boys and girls basketball, baseball, and Knowledge Bowl. He was a mentor to many and loved by teachers and students alike.
After being diagnosed with leukemia in December 2009, he fought and won. Unfortunately, he struggled with side effects of the life saving treatment for the last 9 years. Never one to complain, Darrin was anxious to get back to and stay in the classroom. Even with all the physical challenges he faced, his students and family were his first priority.
Darrin married his high school sweetheart Tracy Miller in 1987, they were married for 32 years and raised two beautiful daughters, Briana and Taylor. Darrin and Tracy made their home in Rochester, WA.
He is Survived by his loving wife Tracy, his daughter Briana Grey (Robert); daughter Taylor Canfield (Michael Little); mother Elaine Canfield (Hamilton); father Donald Canfield; brother Dwayne Canfield (Carrie-Ann Tkaczyk), and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
