Obituary for Beverly “Gummy” Moore
Beverly “Gummy” Moore (nee Taylor), 86, peacefully passed away in the Chehalis home she grew up in, Tuesday, February 25, 2020. She was born in Chehalis, Washington to George and Minnie Taylor (nee Aust-Wilson) on June 12, 1933. After briefly attending Boistfort Valley Schools she transferred to the Chehalis Public Schools. After graduating in 1951, she and two girlfriends embarked on a three-year adventure living and working in such places as Seattle, San Francisco, and Hilo, Hawaii (prior to Hawaii becoming a state). One of the highlights of her youth was sharing her love of ballroom dancing with others as an instructor at an Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Hawaii.
She married Jerry “JT” Moore in 1955. They lived in Seattle for three years while he finished law school at the University of Washington. After that time, they relocated to Centralia where they raised their three children amidst the tight knit community of friends in the neighborhood on Mayberry Road.
“Gummy” was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a good friend to many; especially to those who were lonely or in need. She was quick to smile and to laugh. She loved a good joke! She loved warm sunny days, spending time with family and friends, watching good movies, and listening to big band music. She was a patriot who took her right to vote very seriously and would spend hours staying informed of what was happening in the world through FOX News Network. Over the past several years, she received a great deal of comfort and joy through a special relationship with her precious kitties.
She is survived by her daughter, Allison, her son, Clyde (Leslie) and daughter in law, Prudencia Moore. Surviving grandchildren include Amedee Moore Royer (Douglas), Jetton Moore, Kylie Moore Melendez (Carlos), Austin Moore, Joceline Moore, Mediko Moore and Kinsley Moore. Surviving great grandchildren include Austin, Adelee, and Abigail Royer and Marcel Melendez. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and her four “Kitty” friends; Google, Silky, Frosty, and Carmel.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Jerry and her son, Taylor. She was also preceded in death by her three sisters; Vera “Bobo” Whitted, Phyllis Brown, Eileen “Tina” Hasson, and her brother Melvin “Mole” Wilson.
At her request, there will be no memorial service, but those who would like to make a memorial donation in her honor can do so online through KittyKatHaven.org and or by mail to:
