William Richard Wood It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving father William (Wild Bill) Wood at the age of 81, on May 3, 2024, after a brief yet hard battle with cancer. Bill was born in Aberdeen to Francis and Fritzi Wood in August of 1942. He was raised in Rochester and attended school in Rochester and graduated from Centralia High School. He lived and raised his family in Rochester and ultimately retired and built a home in Chehalis with the love of his life, Paulina. Bill is survived by four sons, William (Teresa), Tracy, Jeremy, Nicolas (Joanne) Wood, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bill was a well-known truck driver starting with Charlie's Trailer Sales and moved on to ultimately retire from Centralia coal mine (Widco). He was also a mighty fine carpenter. He was always building something whether it were a house, a garage or a wishing well. He helped his family and friends build anything they needed. Bill was always there to lend a hand or give expert advice! In retirement, he and Paulina loved to travel, gamble, garden, fish and most of all they loved Country Western dancing and enjoyed teaching others. They were the envy of the dance floor! Bill was a friendly man and quick to smile. He seemed to know almost everyone in the county. It was not uncommon for a "quick" errand to take hours due to laughing and visiting with friends and acquaintances wherever he went.
Bill will be laid to rest joining his wife, mother, father and sister with a graveside service at the Grand Mound Cemetery on May 29 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to your local Senior Center or Providence Hospice.
