Obituary

William "Bill" Britton Morse, 87, of Centralia, Washington, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, from the effects of Parkinson's disease. A proud veteran, master builder and dedicated family man, Bill lived a life defined by hard work and community involvement.

Born March 9, 1939, in Portland, Oregon, Bill grew up in Seaview, Washington, which he always considered his true hometown. He was the son of William Smith Morse and Elnora Maureen (Schoenborn) Mulvey. On Sept. 10, 1966, he married the love of his life, Colleen Ann Moore of Ocean Park, Washington. Together, they shared nearly 60 years of marriage and raised their two sons, Bill III and Geoff.

Bill took immense pride in his military service, honorably serving in the United States Marine Corps. In later years, he found fellowship and support among his fellow veterans at the Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis. A lifelong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, he served as a scoutmaster for many years. He spent his career as a general contractor, establishing Morse Construction with his younger son, Geoff.

Bill loved being outdoors, watching classic television shows, and reading mystery novels and history. A founding member of the Beach Barons Car Club in Long Beach, Washington, his pride and joy was his fully restored 1956 Chevrolet 210 two-door post. In retirement, Bill and Colleen loved to travel, frequently returning to the Long Beach Peninsula, visiting their sons on the East Coast and exploring Europe on river cruises.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Charles Mulvey; and his younger brother, James Morse.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Colleen; his sons, Bill and Geoff; his siblings, Mary (Puck) Mulvey, Alice Flaherty, Laura Bell, Shannon Tetz and Matthew Mulvey; his brother Jim's daughter, Kim Morse Stewart; Jim's widow, Jane Morse Young; and many nieces, nephews, and an extended network of family and friends.

The family plans to hold a private gathering later in the year to lay his ashes to rest and requests no flowers or gifts. They extend their deepest thanks to the nurses of Assured Hospice, the staff of Silver Acres III and, especially, Michelle, for her exceptionally loving care of Bill and the strength she gave to Colleen in his final days.

A wake to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
