Wayne W. Galvin of Centralia peacefully passed away July 18, 2012. He was born in Lincoln, Neb. to Arnold and Dorothy (Walter) Galvin on Feb. 19, 1931.
A Korean War veteran with the Army Securtiy Agency, Wayne spent most of his professional life in the field of computer technology. He retired from Seattle Pacific University as director of computer services, moving to Chehalis in 1992. He was very active in the community, serving on the Chehalis City Council where he chaired the board of adjustment. He also served on the Chehalis Historic Preservation Commission, Lewis County Flood Control Zone Advisory Committee, and the City Lodging Tax Advisory Committee. In addition, he was a board member of the Veterans Memorial Museum and the Lewis County Historical Museum. An avid history buff and writer, he authored a book about the Veness family and lumber mill interests near Winlock, The Timber Baron of Winlock, for the benefit of the Lewis County Historical Society. In 1980, he received a Doctor of Divinity in recognition of his writings in theology. Other interests and accomplishments included playing pool at the senior center, model railroad collecting, and architectural design.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 59 years, Charlotte Galvin. Remembrances can be made to the Twin City Senior Center or the Veteran's Memorial Museum. There are no services planned at this time.
