Obituary

Thomas Dean Ferguson, lovingly known as Fergie, passed peacefully at home on August 18, 2025, in Chehalis, WA, surrounded by loved ones after a battle with colon cancer. Born on January 10, 1955, at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, WA, Thomas lived a full and vibrant life filled with humor, resilience, and warmth. Thomas was the beloved son of Warren and Marian Ferguson, both of whom preceded him in death. He grew up in Washington and New Jersey, attending Sunset Elementary in Eastgate, Lake Heights Elementary in Newport Hills, Tyee High School in Bellevue, Ramsey High School in Ramsey, NJ, Morris Town High School in Morris Town, NJ, and later Scotch Plains Technical College in Scotch Plains, NJ. He spent much of his career in the survey equipment and sales industry, beginning at the family business, Ferguson and Sons, in Bellevue, where he worked for 15 years. He later continued his career with Chicago Steel Tape, Pacific Laser Systems, and Spectra Laser Equipment, where he built lasting friendships and a reputation for both his work ethic and his sense of humor. Outgoing by nature, Thomas always made friends wherever he went and was respected and loved by so many people in his work in the industry. Thomas married Rebecca (Becki) Jarvi, the love of his life. They were best friends who loved each other deeply and were married for over 30 years. Together, they built a blended family that he cherished deeply. He is survived by his children Megan and Whitney, his stepchildren Bret and Arin, and his 10 grandchildren: Teagan, Caeden, Paisley, and Hadley (children of Megan); Blakely, Harper, and Finleigh (children of Whitney); David and Riley (children of Bret); and Anna (child of Arin). He is also survived by his brothers, Donald Ferguson and Glen Ferguson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Becki, who passed away in 2018. For 25 years, Thomas made his home in Kirkland, WA, and also spent time living in Bellevue. He loved skiing, photography, and playing both the trumpet and drums. He enjoyed exploring new interests and never lost his unique wit. Known for his ability to find humor in any situation, Thomas left an impression on everyone who knew him. He will be missed deeply.
