It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Susan Tapscott, fondly known as "Big Nany" or "Susie" to her loved ones, on September 16, 2024. Susan, born on July 15, 1950, in Yuba City, CA, was a beacon of resilience, a woman whose loyalty was unwavering, and whose sense of humor was as infectious as her love was endless.
Susan was a dedicated phlebotomist, having spent over three decades working in the Providence Hospital Lab in Centralia, WA before her well-earned retirement in 2008. She was a woman of many passions, but home decor, gardening, and shopping were among her favorites. Yet it was the time she spent with her family and friends that she cherished most - moments that were always filled with laughter, love, and her unique brand of humor. She was a steadfast companion to her husband, William Tapscott, and a loving mother to her daughter, Kelley King Sauter. Above all, Susan was a doting and devoted "Big Nany" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all whom she held close to her heart and in her prayers.
Susan is survived by her husband, William Tapscott; her daughter, Kelley King Sauter; her sister, Kaye Skinner; her niece, Holly Raia; her grandchildren, Savanah Deacon, McKenna Burton, Rylee King, and Gavin King; her grandson-in-law, Jonnel Deacon; granddaughter-in-law, Elizabeth King; and son-in-law, Jason Sauter. She now joins her parents, Velma and Howard Young; her brothers, Butch and Rodger Young; and her son-in-law, Shawn King, who have preceded her in death.
Susan's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her. Her resilience, loyalty, and loving nature will continue to inspire and guide us. We encourage all who knew Susan to share their memories, stories, and photos on her memorial page, as a testament to a life well-lived and a woman deeply loved.
