Obituary

Steven Harold Myhr was born May 24, 1947, in Chehalis, Washington, and died December 26, 2025. He attended Oakview and Chehalis grade schools and graduated from W.F. West High School. He continued his education in college from 1965 to 1967. Through a temporary job placement service started by two girls attending his college, Steve learned of an opening as a draftsman with Burlington Northern Railroad in Seattle. He applied and remained with the railroad until his retirement. During his tenure, he transferred to St. Paul, Minnesota; Fort Worth, Texas; and Portland, Oregon, spending approximately three years in each location. Following the merger that formed Burlington Northern Santa Fe, Steve worked five years in the real estate department. When that department was eliminated, he spent two additional years helping train employees in the department that replaced it. After retiring from the railroad, Steve managed monthly and annual water testing for County Mobile Park. He attended state-sponsored seminars and completed coursework related to water testing and compliance. Steve also volunteered for many years at an adult family home in Issaquah, where he spent several hours one day each week assisting a resident. He regularly attended church and volunteered in the library department at a large church. His Christian faith was the most important part of his life, and he openly shared it with friends and acquaintances. Steve is survived by two brothers, Reg Myhr and Mike Myhr, both of Centralia. He was preceded in death by his father, Seth Myhr; his mother, Vivian Myhr; and his sister, Diana Myhr. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2025, at Mountain View Cemetery.
