Obituary

Surrounded by family, our beloved mother Shirley Elaine Haskins Huffman went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 30, 2013. She was born in Prescott, Ariz., on Jan. 6, 1932 and spent the majority of her life in Rochester, Wash. Mom loved working with kids as a counselor for 25 years at Maple Lane and Green Hill Correctional Schools. Enjoying the beauty of the outdoors and nature, as well as camping, hiking, golfing, fishing, photography, reading, discussing history and collecting rocks everywhere she traveled, were some of her favorite activities. But she was most passionate about her family, making sure everyone was doing well and blessing each and every one of us when we needed help. Mom will be missed dearly but we know she is resting easy now in God's hands. A celebration service of Mom's life will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Rochester, Wash., on Friday, Aug. 9, 2013 at 7 p.m. In remembrance of Mom and at her request in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Boscovet Project, 5720 Jensen Rd., Stanwood, Wash. 98292 or a charity of your choice. She is preceded in death by husband, Robert Haskins; parents, Erik and Ina Isaacson; sister, Evelyn Isaacson; and brother, Raymond Isaacson. She is survived by husband, Francis Huffman; children, Dan (Linda) Haskins, Debra (Dennis) Dixon, Bill (Theresa) Haskins, Jay (Shari) Haskins, Ray (Camille) Haskins, Danny Huffman, Dale (Norma) Huffman, David Huffman, Diane Kolc and Darlene (Larry) Craig; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are by Newell-Hoerling's Funeral Home.
