Obituary

Rodney Wayne Tracy was born March 16, 1937 in Tacoma Washington, the 5th child of Loyal and Frances (Chickovich) Tracy. He moved to Yelm as a child and was a 1955 graduate of Yelm High School. He passed away peacefully July 15, 2024. After a short stint in the Army, he married Carol Johnson. He was the "handsome milk man" of her early teen years, and it was a story they joyfully shared with all they loved. Married more than 60 years, Rod lost the love of his life on June 24, 2024. They left a legacy of love and devotion that will guide and encourage their children and grandchildren, as well as all who knew them, for a lifetime. Rod spent his career with Pacific Northwest Bell, retiring in 1990. His greatest joy and contributions in life, though, were his children and grandchildren. Retired shortly after the birth of his first grandchild, he and Carol almost never missed a sporting event or activity of those lights of his life. He delighted in sharing bits of wisdom with the grandchildren as they grew, and they would all tell you his favorite was "Save your money!" They also enjoyed much travel together, and in later years, spending quiet time with family and friends. Rod is recently predeceased by his wife Carol. He is survived by his daughters Jennifer Kassebaum (Jim), Chris Lukins (Frank), and Pam Tracy, and special family friend Tony Betz (Shelly). He is also survived by his grandchildren Brent (Naomi), Hailey (Alec), Emily (Mike), Victoria, Alec, Sam (Alyssa), Ted, Nick, Logan, and Ryan, many nieces and nephews, and by the light of his later years, his great grandson Colson. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
