Robert L. Buzzard passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at Centralia Providence Hospital. Born May 30, 1931 to Richard and Mary Buzzard in Centralia, Wash., and lived most of his life there. Sept. 3, 1954 he married his beloved wife, Shirley Jean Blumenthal who preceded him in death in 2010.
Bob worked as a mortician at Newell Hoerling Mortuary for 16 years. Then he ventured to the furniture business for several years and later as an industrial painter with his son until his retirement.
In 1996 they moved to Ocean Park, Wash., where he loved the outdoors, whether he was fishing or clam digging or taking walks on the beach that he called "Physical Therapy." His greatest joy was when family and friends would visit, spending time around the fire pit telling stories and eating oysters.
In 2008, Bob suffered a major stroke but never lost his witty sense of humor. His children moved them back to the Centralia area so they could help with his care.
Bob was an army veteran and served in the Korean War. He was also one of the first organizers and coaches of the Youth Football League in Lewis County and past member of the Centralia/Chehalis Elks and Centralia Eagles Clubs.
Preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dick Buzzard. Bob leaves behind three loving children, Debbie McKune, Chehalis, Randy (Fran) Buzzard, Centralia and Gina (Ben) Johnson, Chehalis, sisters, Linda Wagner-McCoy, Centralia, Joan Olsen, Shelton and Lis Smith, Shelton.
