Richard "Dick" B. Curtright passed away on December 8, 2014 at the age of 89 years old. Dick was born on September 10, 1925 to Richard Lemuel Curtright and Ruby Cobble Curtright. He was a life long resident of the Centralia area. Dick was a graduate of the class of 1943 Centralia High School. On August 30, 1945 he married Romalie Helmick. He was a veteran of World War II. After the war Dick worked in the woods until 1954, when he started his career at the Green Hill School for Incarcerated Boys.
Dick was a member of the local American Legion and the Eagles. He was an avid outdoorsman, which he passed on to his children. Family and friends spent many...many...hunting seasons in the Winston Creek, Kalama, and the Mount Saint Helens Tree Farm camping with Dick and Romalie during deer and elk season. Dick also had a love for horses and made many horseback packing trips into the mountains on the Pacific Crest Trail with the Centralia Jr. Posse. In the 60's he was actively involved in baseball with both the Centralia Little League and Babe Ruth organizations coaching several teams. He also spent many years running the pool table on various pool leagues in Lewis County.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Romalie Curtright, two sisters Shirley Kramer of Tucson, Arizona, and Dorothy Dunn of Tacoma, Washington. Dick is survived by his 3 children: Rick, Mike and Debra and their spouses, along with 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. There will be a celebration of his life as a later date.
