Obituary

It is with a song in our hearts and a smile on our faces that we announce the passing of Neal Wells, a man who embodied the quote, "Life is what you make it." Born in San Francisco, CA on January 18, 1953, Neal lived a rich and full life until his passing on February 6, 2025. Neal's journey took him from the vibrant city of San Francisco to the serene landscapes of Chehalis, Washington, with a few pit stops in San Jose, CA, Nevada City, CA, and Olympia, WA. Neal's life was a symphony composed of different melodies, from his service in the Army Reserves to his successful career as an Information and Data Entry Technician for the Washington State Dept of L&I. He retired from a life of numbers to pursue his passions—playing the guitar, hunting, fishing, country western dancing, gardening, and enjoying wildlife. Neal's zest for life was contagious, and his spirit was as resilient and robust as his beloved garden. His love for his family was as deep as his love for a good country western dance. He was the kind of man who would tune his guitar to the rhythm of the falling rain, a man who found joy in the simple things. His life was a testimony to the words of John Muir, "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Neal was a proud member of the Centralia and Chehalis Order of Eagles, serving as President from 1999 to 2000. He was also a dedicated member of the Cub Scouts, and his commitment to community service exemplified his belief in the power of unity and cooperation. Neal is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Christiana (David) Arrott, his grandson Anthony Arrott, his three great-grandchildren, and his brother Daniel Emmett. He now joins his father Milton Wells, his mother Delores Stopper, his son William III, and his beloved wife Deborah Wells in the eternal dance. As we bid farewell to Neal, let us remember to keep the beat of his life alive in our hearts. His legacy is a reminder that life's greatest joys are found not in grand achievements, but in the simple pleasures of love, family, and nature. We invite you to share your memories of Neal and upload photos to the memorial page. May these shared moments serve as a comforting melody in this time of sorrow. Neal's life was a beautiful song, and each memory is a note that adds to its enduring melody.
