Obituary

Marjorie passed away July 12, 2013, at Centralia Hospital. She was born April 2, 1916, to Chester S. and Edna M. (Thurston) Williams at the family ranch, 2 miles north of Bozeman, Mont. She was salutatorian of her class at Belgrade High School, Mont. She attended Montana State College and the School of Mines in Butte, Mont., where she met her future husband, Arthur Plummer. They were married in July 1936 and moved to Centralia. Construction projects in the late 1930s took them to Kodiak, Alaska, Falls City, Morton, Eatonville, and finally to Centralia where they owned and operated Twin City Sand and Gravel Co. In 1958, they built and managed the Lake Shore Motel. Following Arthur's death in 1978, she married Court L. Koerner and moved to Milwaukie, Ore. After Court's death in 1985, she moved back to the local area. Marjorie was blessed with good health that enabled her to live an active and independent life. She enjoyed traveling all over the world, painting (oil and watercolors), reading, golf, bridge, investment management, and sailing. Her community activities included St. John/St. Timothy Episcopal Church, the local DAR Chapter, March of Dimes, and the Olympia Yacht Club. She was preceded in death by a brother; a sister; and a great-grand-daughter. Survivors include daughter, Patricia E. (Ken) Hugill of Chehalis; son, Grant W. (Karen) Plummer of Port Orchard; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A graveside memorial service will be conducted on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m., at Mountain View Cemetery, Centralia. Arrangements are under the direction of Newell-Hoerlings Mortuary. A reception will follow at St. Timothy Episcopal Church at 1826 S.W. Snively Avenue in Chehalis.
