Obituary

Marietta "Mary" Ingrid (Baker) Blatt passed away peacefully March 31, 2013 at her home in Pe Ell, after a long battle with brain cancer. Mary was born Feb. 12, 1946 in Camas, Wash., and she was adopted soon after by Howard and Gladys Baker of Mayfield, Wash. Mary was the 1964 Morton Logger Jubilee Queen and graduated from Mossyrock High School in 1964. In 1970, she married Frank Huckstep. To this union, three children were born. Shortly after Mount St. Helens erupted, they moved to Alaska to raise their family. They divorced in 1985. Mary moved back to Washington and she was the customer service manager for 15 years for Fullers Market Basket in Chehalis. In 1992, Mary married Ernest "Ernie" Blatt. After they both retired, they moved to Pittsville, Wis., where they enjoyed many years harvesting cranberries and hunting. They would winter in Douglas, Ariz., enjoying golf with their friends. Mary and Ernie returned to Washington and settled in Pe Ell in 2002. Mary is survived by her husband, Ernie, children, Teresa (Terry) Brunstad of Chehalis, Lori Gilbertson of Tacoma and Zachary (Samantha) Huckstep of Eagle River, Alaska, step-children, Mike (Dawn) Blatt of Silverdale, Jeff Blatt of Apple Valley, Calif., Patti (Joe) Crivellone of Tacoma and Vicki (Tom) Garry of Pflugerville, Texas, grandchildren, Casey James, Amanda, Joshua, Kaylee, Brycen, Joe, Tabitha and Zeal, step-grandchildren, James, Angela, TJ and great-granddaughter, Sophia Jane, her biological brother and sisters, Susan McConn, Eldon Price, Lady Donna "Billy" (Bill) Bell, Roxie Flaherty and Jim (Carol) Rose. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Baker of Longview. A celebration of life will be held April 13, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pe Ell Methodist Church, 416 1st Street S., Pe Ell. Buffet to follow at the church. The family would like to thank the Pe Ell Fire Department and the staff of Assured Hospice for their caring and support. Donations may be directed to the Pe Ell Fire Department Auxiliary, P.O.
