Marie Lina (Gauthier) Kaszycki died peacefully in the comfort of her own home, on August 21, 2014. Born to Jeremie and Emilie Gauthier on April 6, 1922 in Blue Sea Lake, Province of Quebec, Canada, where she grew up one of 13 children.
Marie moved to the United States settling in Yonkers, New York in August 1941, where she began her decade long career in domestic work. She became a permanent resident of the United States on 8/30/1941. It was during her time in New York where she learned to speak English. She met her husband of 58 years, Andrew, in a Polish dance club in New York. They met, fell in love and were married in Bronxville, New York on April 18, 1945. Andrew moved his new bride, at the end of his time in the Navy, to his hometown of PeEll, where they proceeded to start their life together, raising 4 children.
Marie was the ultimate homemaker. She was an excellent cook and immaculate housekeeper. She continued her domestic work, of which she was in high demand, until she reached the age of 60. She enjoyed travel over the years to Canada, Reno, and Arizona. She loved her Bingo nights and enjoyed spending time with and cooking for her family.
Marie was blessed in life to have had 2 wonderful men she loved dearly, her husband of 58 years, Andy, and her dear companion of 8 years, Don.
She is preceded in death by her husband Andy, her son Michael, her companion Don, her mother and father, and numerous family members from Canada. She is survived by her children; Doug (Rita) Kaszycki of PeEll, Pearl (Jack) Moltz of Ethel and Veronica (Ralph) Hertwig of Centralia and one sister, Marie-Mae LaCroix of Hull, Quebec, Canada and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada. She was a grandmother to 11, a great grandmother to 21, and a great-great grandmother to 7.
