Obituary

Louise Elizabeth Wyant passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 26, 2013. Louise was born on Sept. 30, 1923 in Tacoma, Wash. She, her sister Laura and brother Allen grew up in Centralia and graduated from Centralia High School in 1942. In Jan., 1942 she married her childhood sweetheart, Victor Ray Wyant. During a twenty year career in the U. S. Army, Vic, Louise and family lived in Kentucky, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas, Alaska, Germany and Taiwan. They returned to Centralia after retiring from the Army to continue raising their family and live out the rest of their lives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major (ret.) Victor Wyant, Sr.; son, Roger Allen Wyant; brother, Allen Rogers; and sister-in-law, Lucille Stevens. She is survived by her loving family; sister, Laura Conger of Camarillo, Calif.; daughter, Vicky Kaeser (Bob) of Bellevue; son, Major (ret.) Victor Wyant, Jr. (Vicki) of Camano Island; daughter, Valery Wheeler (Nick) of Centralia, and daughter-in-law, Sharon Jewell of Orting. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Kerry Kaeser (Chicago), Barbara Sadler (Bonney Lake), Heather Wyant (Gilbert, Ariz.), Brett Wyant (Mesa, Ariz.), Michelle Robinson (Bonney Lake), Kelsie Wheeler (Bellingham), Victor Ray Wyant, III (Durham, N.C.), and Veronica Wyant (Gilbert, Ariz.). Louise also leaves ten beloved great-grandchildren. She was cherished by her family and friends, she was always proud of the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Louise was an adventurer and not easily intimidated. With each of Vic's new assignments, Louise would soon follow, packing children and household belongings and travel by ship, bus, train and plane to join him. At the tender age of 23 she ushered two small children from Centralia to New York City and on to Europe on a troop carrier. During posting in Germany, Louise traveled with girl friends to many parts of Europe but the most memorable would be to Czechoslovakia. They were persuaded to return to Germany because Russian soldiers were occupying the country. She was also able to attend a few of the trials for war crime at Nuremberg, Germany. Some years later she packed all their children and headed off to Formosa (Taiwan) on the USS Anderson. Louise enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting, reading and watching most sports. She spent many hours crocheting hats for babies at several hospitals. She hand stitched a quilt or crocheted an afghan for each of her 22 children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many others to express her love for them. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery. A celebration of Louise will be at her daughter, Valery's home directly following. Funeral directions are being planned by Newell-Hoerling's Mortuary.
