Louis Samuel Rota, 90, of Tenino, passed away December 14, 2019 surrounded by family at his home in Tenino, WA. He was born January 24, 1929 to Louis A. and Mary T. (Arcuri) Rota in Puyallup, Washington. Louis was raised with his 4 siblings on a small farm in Johnson Creek. He attended school in Tenino, WA. On September 18, 1948 he married Jean Essensa. Louis and Jean made their home in Tenino, WA. It was there they put down roots and raised their 2 children, Louise A. and Louis R. Louis worked in the logging and construction industries and then as a Laborer for Olympia Brewing Company. He retired from Olympia Brewing in the early 80's but never stopped working. He continued to stay busy farming and working outdoors. He and Jean enjoyed hobbies including owning thoroughbred horses and being a part of the racing community. Louie had a mischievous smile that would instantly light up the room. He had many interests including flying his Cessna, fishing and raising beef. Watching his great grandsons grow up and spending time with friends and family were an important part of his life. After losing his wife, Louis re-connected with a former classmate and friend, Lola "Sis" Barclay. For the last 20 years he spent his summers in Tenino and his winters in AZ with Sis enjoying hiking and adventuring outside. Louie remained active in the Tenino community as a member of the Skookumchuck Grange and volunteering his time at the Tenino museum. Specifically, he enjoyed discussing and showing off the horse drawn and antique farm equipment in the Rota building. Louis is survived by his partner, Lola "Sis" Barclay, Tenino, WA, daughter, Louise Ann Rota of Tenino, WA; son, Louis Raymond Rota of Tenino (Kathy), WA; two granddaughters, Nicole D. Rota, and Marisa J. Noonan (Jay); Two great-grandsons, Brody L. and Sawyer J. Noonan; brother, Don L. Rota and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Anthony Rota, mother, Mary Teresa Rota, wife, Jean Louise Rota, and sisters Phylis Wilkowski, Verna Smith, and Delores Essensa. A Graveside Service will be held, December 27, 2019, 1:00 pm at the Forest Grove Cemetery, in Tenino, WA, with Bob Hill, officiating.
