Obituary

Keith A Elbert was born on September 3, 1952 in Tacoma, Washington. He was raised in Gig Harbor on the Key Peninsula. He graduated in 1970 from Peninsula High School. He attended Vaughn Community Church where he met his future wife, Kandy, when he was just 16. They were married on July 3, 1973. After graduating from high school, he attended Centralia College, where he majored in Civil Engineering. He began his career at WIDCO (Washington Irrigation Development Company) in August of 1973. During that time, he was a highly respected Civil Engineer, known for his rigorous work ethic and innovative problem-solving skills. His career spanned decades, during which he demonstrated an exceptional dedication to his craft and his colleagues. After 42 years, he retired, and he and Kandy immediately began their travels. From weekend camping trips with family, to traveling the world, and everything in between. Keith and Kandy created a life and home that would make anyone jealous. He took immense pride in what they had built. From their home, to his lawn, and their backyard that rivals any park. Keith was also an avid cyclist. At the age of 54, he rode the Seattle to Portland (STP) Bicycle Classic nine times. Over two hundred miles in one day, twice. And each one of them with at least one of his sons, if not two. And just for fun, at the age of 56, he ran a marathon with his other son. Beyond his accomplishments, Keith's heart belonged to his family and his faith in God. He had a calling to serve and spent his whole adult life answering that call. Whether that was leading bible studies, teaching Sunday School, volunteering at the Lewis County Gospel Mission, or serving as a church elder, he was always willing and wanting to give all that he could, and then some. However, Keith always took the most pride in his family. He was the world's best husband, father, and papa, and his love for his family was his guiding light. He is survived by his loving wife, Kandy Elbert, and their three sons: Kristofor Elbert, Steve Olsen (Audree), and Kevin Elbert (Kate). His six grandchildren: Kyler, Mariella, Walther, Katelyn, Edward, and Emmet. His two sisters Barbara Barnes and Patty Elbert. For so many more, he was, and always will be, Uncle Keith. His love, guidance, and support have left an indelible mark on each of their lives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Lois Elbert, his older siblings Joe A. Elbert, and Karen Elizabeth Angleton, and his twin sister Kathleen Knightsky. "A life well lived never truly ends...it echoes in the faith, courage, and hope it leaves behind. Death may close the chapter, but the legacy continues to write itself in every heart touched along the way." Keith passed away, peacefully, on August 13, 2025 in his home with his wife of 52 years by his side. Please honor Keith's life by remembering the love, dedication, and inspiration he showed to all of us. His life was a testament to that love, dedication, and compassion. His memory will continue to inspire us all.
