Obituary

Johnny T. Holmes Sr., passed away suddenly of a heart attack on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012 at the age of 53. He was born on June 7, 1959 in Olympia, Wash., to George and Frances Holmes. He was a resident of Centralia for nearly 40 years. Johnny is survived by his wife, Lynette, sons, Jt (Kori) Holmes of Chehalis, Shane (Sarah) Holmes of Winlock and a daughter, Mindy (Josh) Ferguson of Centralia, five grandchildren, MeKinsy, Conner and Savannah Holmes and Tyler and Logan Ferguson, brothers, George (Melissa) Holmes of Chehalis, Charles Holmes of Skykomish, Martin (Lorraine) Holmes of Warroad, Minn., Raymond (Sue) Holmes of Rochester, sisters, Terri (Randy) Guerrero of Centralia and Nancy (Keith) Zach of Newton, Iowa. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Frances (Cline) Holmes and a brother William H. Holmes. He was currently employed with his son at JT Development & Waterworks LLC. His hobbies included coaching various sports, Centralia Little League Baseball and Twin Cities Youth Football. He was a man of many talents and none he wasn't great at. He tried his hand at bowling and said "I can say I was perfect once" when he bowled his 300 game in 2000. He loved his family and always took the time to lend a listening ear and share his words of wisdom. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and hunting with family and friends when ever he could. He was a genuine and caring man. He had a great sense of humor and warm smile. All that knew him loved him. He grew up in Rochester, Wash., where he attended school through the 6th grade. Johnny grew up around horses and rode in the Black Hills Wranglers Rodeo, Oakville, Wash. He moved with his parents & three of his brothers to Graceton, Minn., where he completed his schooling. He graduated in 1978 from Lake of the Woods High School in Baudette, Minn. His amazing basketball abilities caught the eye of his high school sweetheart and they were married on July 1, 1978. Visitation will be from 2p.m.-6p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 and 2p.m.- 6p.m., Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 at Newell-Hoerlings in Centralia. Memorial services will be held on November 3, 2012 at 10 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2801 Mount Vista Ave, Centralia. Internment will directly follow the service at the Grand Mound Cemetery. A luncheon will then be held back at the LDS Church and your chance to share a fond memory or funny story. In lieu of flowers - "pay it forward" and show your kindness to someone in remembrance of Johnny. Remember not to put the things in this busy life ahead of the people that are precious to you, because they can never be replaced! Take the time to listen to each other and steal an extra kiss when you say goodbye. Life is so very short!
