Joe J. PaulisJuly 29, 1920 - April 17, 2014Joe was born in Walville, Washington, a Milltown which no longer exists west of PeEll. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. After serving in the military he returned to the Labam-Frances area, where he lived until 1966 when moving to Chehalis. After returning from the military, he worked as a logger until 1966, and then after moving to Chehalis, he worked for the Lewis County Department of Public Works in bridge maintenance operations until his retirement. Joe's favorite pastime was his vast gardens, and in his later years, he enjoyed telling stories from the past to anyone that would lend an ear. Heaven has ended up with one hell of a gardener and storyteller. Joe was preceded in death by his wife Thelma in 2000, and children Carol Burks, Duane Corliss and Elaine Bannish. He is survived by his children Anne Nazaroff of Tucson, Arizona, Jim Paulis of Chehalis, Steve Paulis of Seattle, and Don Corliss of Milwaukie, Oregon. In addition he is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.At Joe's request, there will be no services. Inurnment will be on the family plot at Claquato Cemetery.
