Jody Rae Isaacson (Anderson) will be remembered as a vibrant, caring and passionate nurse, wife, mother and friend. Jody passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012.
Jody and her identical twin sister, Judy (McTaggart), were born to the late Dale and Eleanor Anderson on July 29, 1953 in Centralia, Wash. She and her four siblings were raised in Edmonds, Wash. She graduated from Edmonds High School in 1971. Jody earned her RN Degree at Shoreline Community College. After graduating she moved to Centralia to take a job as a delivery nurse at Centralia General Hospital (now Providence).
In Centralia she met her soon-to-be husband, Greg Isaacson, who she married in 1976. Jody and Greg have been married for nearly 36 years. They raised three children, Nate (31) of New York City, Leah (28) and Adam (26) both of Seattle. Jody worked as a registered nurse in The Family Birthing Center at Centralia Providence Hospital for 31 years. Jody was Neonatal Intensive Care Certified. During her career there she delivered thousands of babies, helping bring joy to their parents and families. She was an excellent nurse and a wonderful advocate for mothers and babies and never afraid to stand up for what was right. Unfortunately, her career as a nurse was cut short due to being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2005. Even after her career was over, she still had a passion for nursing and caring for others and most recently cared for her brother-in-law, Bill McTaggart, during his recovery from lung cancer surgery.
When she was not working, Jody was passionate about caring for and giving to her children, her dogs, Maggie and Phoebe, and extended family. Jody had a love for musician James Taylor, shopping and antiquing with her husband. Over the years of their marriage, they enjoyed traveling together, visiting historical sites in the Midwest and the family homestead in Kansas. One of Jody's fondest memories was her 2004 Baltic Sea Cruise that ended in Sweden, the home of her ancestors.
Jody will be missed and remembered as a person who never thought twice about taking care of all that came into her life. She was the most loving and selfless mother, sister, aunt, co-worker and friend.
Jody is survived by her husband, Greg, three children, her twin sister, sisters, Shari Arnstrom and Sydni Steen, and brother, Marty Anderson.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph School Hall at 123 Southwest 6th Street Chehalis, WA 98532.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jody's name can be made to University of Washington Nursing Scholarship Fund (www.washington.edu/giving/make-a-gift).
