Jean (Jeanie) L. Hager
July 4, 1930 – September 7, 2024
In loving memory of our beloved Jean "Jeanie" L. Hager, who passed away peacefully on September 7th, surrounded by her loving family. She was welcomed home by God and reunited with those who went before her.
Mom was truly one of a kind. Born on July 4, 1930, to Dermot Raphael Loman and Thelma Margaret Springer, it's no surprise she was a real firecracker! From the start, she was vibrant. Her fiery red hair and warm personality brought joy and kindness to everyone. She was known for sincerity, generosity, and the ability to make others feel valued.
To our family, she was Mom or simply Grandma. To others, she showed unconditional love for family and dedicated her life to them. She was a devoted wife to our dad, Donald E. Hager, for 65 years. She was a loving mother to her children: Ron (Virginia), Timothy E. Hager (predeceased), and Lisa (me). She was a dear sister to Betsy Cole and Leonard Loman (both of whom predeceased her). She was also a proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Mom's Faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a strong, devoted, and lifelong member and Deacon of the Community Presbyterian Church of Onalaska for 50 years. If you knew her, you knew her strong passion for flowers and gardening! She poured that love into her roles as treasurer and member of the Valley Garden Club of Onalaska. She loved rooting for the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners! Mom was very studious and enthusiastic about reading. She treasured her time working at El Monte High School's library. Later, she worked for the Los Angeles County Library system for eleven years as a Page and Library Assistant. She retired from working at Sears after 20 years in July 1992.
Mom is now reunited with our dad, the love of her life, Donald E. Hager, as well as her son, Timothy E. Hager; her siblings, Betsy J. Cole and Leonard L. Loman; and her niece, Patricia (Patty) Cole.
She leaves behind many who loved her dearly, including me, my brother Ron, and his wife, Virginia; her 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous cherished friends and loved ones.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 12th, at 2:00 PM at the Community Presbyterian Church of Onalaska. After the service, we'll have a potluck reception. All are welcome to share food and memories. In lieu of flowers, if you'd like to honor Mom's memory, you may donate to either the Valley Garden Club of Onalaska or the Community Presbyterian Church of Onalaska.
Her love, faith, and warmth will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
