Ira Gene Weems, age 64 of Centralia, passed away on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013 at his Centralia home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Darlene R. (Hanlin) Weems with whom he shared 43 years of marriage. Born in Centralia, he was the son of the late Royal and Florence (Daggett) Weems. He was educated in Centralia Public Schools and had been a lifelong resident of the city. Upon graduating from Centralia High School, Ira enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Vietnam War era. When he was honorably discharged in 1970, he had received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Sharpshooter Rifle Badge .
Ira worked at Moduline, Hemphill-O'Neill and retired from Wayne-Dalton Corporation which is now Overhead Door.
Ira loved his cars, taking walks and cooking. He was very devoted to his family and will be truly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Darlene; he leaves two daughters, Rosalie Heidlebaugh of Longview and Sherry Weems of Centralia; three brothers, Eddie (Renate) Weems of Texas, Gary Weems of Oregon and Dale Weems of Oregon; two grandchildren, Michael Weems and Winter Knowlton, both of Centralia.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Ira's memorial service on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newell-Hoerling's Mortuary, 205 West Pine Street, Centralia.Officiating will be Mr. John MacDonald. Final Military honors rendered by the United States Marine Corps and the Centralia Marine Corps League promptly at 1 PM.
