Ileen G. Williams, age 93, and a resident of Centralia, WA passed away June 12, 2014. She was born September 22, 1920 to Martinus and Sophia (Hagen) Haug in Hamberg, ND. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. Ileen attended grade school in Hamberg, ND, high school (BCATS) in Maddock, ND and Valley City State Teacher College, graduating with a Teaching Certificate. Her first job was in a one room country school with 16 pupils and eight grades. She taught in various schools in ND. She was united in marriage with Clyde L. Williams of Whitearth, ND on July 20, 1947. They made their home in Bremen, ND where both were employed. In 1951 they moved to the West Coast making their home in Gate, WA. Ileen then attended Central Washington College in Ellensburg, WA to further her education. After some time off she resumed her teaching career in Littlerock and Rochester schools until her retirement in 1980. Retirement years were spent being active with friends, church and family. She enjoyed crocheting, bowling, dancing, taking long walks, reading, making quilts for her family, friends and those in need, corresponding with her pen pals and spending time with her family. She was very much interested in her former students. She was an active member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church working with the Sunday School, Ladies Aid, Food Bank and Memorial Fund. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers Erhard, Milton, Stanley and he husband Clyde (Bud). Suviving are her daughter Shelley (Duane) Snelson, grandsons Russell and Greg Snelson, and great grandson Abram Russell Snelson, plus her extended family. A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 19 from 4-7 p.m. at Newell-Hoerling's Mortuary in Centralia. A graveside service will take place on Friday, June 20 at 2 p.m. at Grand Mound Cemetery in Rochester.
