Harold L. Knudsvig, 84, of Napavine, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2012 after a brave fight against Parkinson's Disease. He left to be with his Lord surrounded by family and close friends. Harold was born in Appam, N.D. on Nov. 3, 1927, to John and Eva (Matheson) Knudsvig. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed at Ft. Lewis for a short time.
On Sept. 13, 1953, he married Marlene Moen of Alamo, N.D. and together they raised five children, Lana, Winlock, Shelley (Kevin) Hutchison, Anna Maria, Fla., Daryl, Centralia, Douglas (Beverly), Winlock, and Terry (Brenda), Centralia.
In 1962, Harold moved his family from North Dakota to Centralia, where he worked as a mechanic for LeDuc Bros. for most of his career.
Harold has 12 grandchildren, whom he loved so much, Travis Prill (Lana), Chelsea and Haley Hutchison (Shelley), Nicholas, Zachary, Kyle and Conner Knudsvig (Daryl), Hannah Knudsvig, Kelsey Crocker, Amanda Evans (Douglas), Taryn, Taylor Knudsvig (Terry), and six great-grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eva, brothers, Henry, Martin, Johnnie, Kenneth, Orville, Murell, Baby Dale, sisters, Gladys, Josie, Alma, Edith, and Phyllis. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marlene, and his children.
Harold enjoyed hunting, camping, woodworking in his shop, family BBQs where he was the master griller, and "snow bird" winters in Arizona and Florida. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Centralia, Wash. Arrangements are under the direction of Newell-Hoerling Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Harold's name to The Visiting Nurses Foundation, 222 S. Pearl St. Centralia, WA 98532.
