Gene Farrel Melohn passed away on March 10, 2025, in Yuma, Arizona. He had recently celebrated his 90th birthday on February 18th amongst family and friends. Gene grew up in Albert City, Iowa, where he held the longest field goal record in high school football for many years. After serving in the Military, he returned to the Iowa family farm where the cold temperatures became unappealing. Gene returned to school in Omaha for a degree in Electronics Technology. Gene was then hired by the Boeing company in Seattle to work on the minute man missile project and NASA's Lunar Obiter which went to the Moon. This new work adventure is where he met his wife, and they married in 1962. He then worked as an electrician at Pacific Power in Centralia until he retired. Gene and Marnie remained married for 62 years. Following retirement, Gene and Marnie traveled the world and spent their winters at their second home in Yuma, Arizona.
An avid sports enthusiast, Gene enjoyed participating in local basketball and softball teams. He also found joy in fishing on nearby lakes. His faith was an important part of his life, and he regularly attended church.
He is survived by his wife, Marnie Melohn; daughters, Denna Hofmann and Cathy Bear; grandsons Joshua and Zachary Hofmann; and great-grandsons Ranzo and Henry Hofmann. He was preceded in death by his parents Ivan and Loren Melohn, sister Darlene Balder, and brother Marvin Melohn.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 A.M. on April 12th at Mountain View Baptist Church. 1201 Belmont Ave., Centralia, Washington.
