Flora was born March 16, 1922, to Claude and Jennie (Cooper) Orr. She grew up in the Randle and Packwood area and graduated from Randle High School in 1940. On June 21, 1940, Flora married Wayne Read. They moved to Centralia in 1946 where they raised a family of four children. Flora was a homemaker who loved gardening, sewing, quilting, and knitting. After Wayne's retirement, they spent several years traveling the United States, including Alaska, with a fifth-wheel trailer, returning frequently to Centralia. She was an active member of the First Assembly of God church and was the Preschool Sunday School teacher for many years. Flora was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, in 1993; daughter-in-law, Carol Read; sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Lloyd Scott; sister-in-law Bonnie Orr; and brother-in law, Phil Aust. Flora is survived by her four children, Robert Read (Kathy Peacock); Jeannie Klee (Werner); David Read (Linda); and Becky Thompson (William); 12 grand children; and 13 great-grand children. She is also survived by her siblings, Alfred Orr (Irene); Oliver Orr (Suzanne); Claude Orr; MaryAnn Aust; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Flora will be buried alongside Wayne in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Claquato on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 10:30 a.m.
