Elva L Kelso, 97 of Centralia, WA, passed into the Lord's hands January 15, 2014. Born to James and Abby she joined the family at their home in a small farming community near Aberdeen, South Dakota. The family moved in 1920 to Spokane, WA settling over time on a farm in Wild Rose Prairie north of the city. Raised on this farm, she met her husband, Weldon "Kelly" Kelso at a community dance and they were subsequently married for 50 years until his death in 1989. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and traveling. They had frequent moves throughout the Northwest due to Weldon's work in or operating silver, lime stone and silica mines.
Elva is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Ann and siblings, Mont, Arlyss, George and Dwila. She is survived by her children, Mary in San Diego, CA and Paul in Winlock, WA, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be at Newell-Hoerling's Mortuary Chapel 205 West Pine Street, Centralia on Sunday February 23, at 11:30 AM. Reception will follow at the Gibson House (O'Blarnery's) on Tower Street in Centralia.
Mom requested in her memorial wishes that no flowers be sent. If you wish, her favorite charity was the Salvation Army and any donations to them would be appreciated. Her ashes are to be scattered on Mount Chilco overlooking Lake Pend Oreille in Northern Idaho. Family Service by Newell Hoerling's Mortuary.
