Obituary

Dorothy I Halliday, 95, of Centralia, died November 27th at Felida Lodge Senior Living in Vancouver, WA. She was born July 11, 1919 to Joseph H. Birkby and Edith V. Horne in Tacoma, WA. Attending school in the Tacoma area, Dorothy graduated from Lincoln High School. Dorothy married William A Halliday October 20, 1946, in the First Presbyterian Church (now Harrison Square Presbyterian) where they were active members for over 50 years. Dorothy combined her lifelong love of reading and a desire to serve the community working at the Timberland Regional Library in Centralia. In retirement she enjoyed RV travel with family and friends, her church family, getting to know her grandchildren and great grandchildren, volunteering at the front desk of Providence Hospital, knitting hats for newborns, bird watching, gardening and her love of antiques and collectables. Survivors include: daughter, Cathy Taylor (Jack) of Brush Prairie, WA, grandson, Jack P Taylor III (Maria) of Chicago, IL, grandson, Wm. Clay Taylor (Mindy) of Battle Ground, WA, grand daughter, Debbie Halliday of Gainsville, FL, grandson, Joseph E Halliday, Jr. (Debbie) of Gainsville, Fl and six great grandchildren: JoeIII, Waden, Ruby, Jack IV, Elsie and Chloe. The family wishes to thank Community Hospice of Vancouver, WA, Felida Lodge Senior Living of Vancouver , WA and Stillwaters Colonial Residence of Centralia, WA, for their excellent care and support. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband William A. Halliday, son, Joseph E. Halliday and grand-daughter, Vickie L. Halliday. A Memorial service with a reception to follow will be held Saturday, December 13th, 2014, at 1:15 PM at Harrison Square Presbyterian Church 1227 Harrison Ave. Centralia, WA 98531 In Lieu of flowers, remembrances may be donated to Harrison Square Presbyterian Church or Providence Hospital Foundation www.harrisonsquarepc.com Please share your memories of Dorothy by signing her online guest book.
