Bruce R
Jory
Sep 21, 1944 — Aug 26, 2026
With sadness we announce the death of Bruce Royal Jory, age 81, on August 26, 2026. Born on September 21, 1944, in Lansing, MI, he grew up with a strong work ethic and a natural talent for mechanics. After graduating from Everett High School in 1962, Bruce answered the call to duty and joined the U.S. Air Force, serving honorably until 1966. The Air Force recalled him to duty in 1968, and he was honorably discharged for a second time in 1969.
Driven by a deep commitment to service, he went on to serve in the military reserves for nearly 30 years. Following his active-duty service, Bruce channeled his expertise into a long and respected civilian career. He worked as an Aircraft Mechanic Supervisor at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) in Tacoma, WA, where he worked diligently until his retirement in 2004. His colleagues knew him as a reliable leader with a sharp eye for detail.
Outside of his career, Bruce had a passion for adventure and loved exploring the open road by motorcycle whenever the opportunity arose. Closer to home, he and his wife, Ginny, shared a unique joy in running their alpaca farm, which at one time was home to more than 30 alpacas. Above all, Bruce was a man who deeply loved his family, his friends, and his animals.
Bruce was preceded in death by his brother, Brent, and is survived by his wife, Ginny Jory, his brother Brian (Maria), sisters Marchelle (Kristi) and Carrie, daughter Brenda (Rick), sons Ryan (Rebekah), Michael (Shannon), Jamie (Michelle), nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and one great grandson. There were many dear friends whose lives he touched, and he will be sorely missed.
We would love for you to join the family at the graveside service to be held at 11am on September 10, 2026, at Grand Mound Cemetery 6300 183rd Ave SW Rochester WA with a gathering to immediately follow at the Historic Gate City Schoolhouse 16925 Moon Rd SW Rochester WA.
