Our beloved mother, Betty Jeanne Ivey Tretheway, born on March 26, 1932, at home in Bucoda, WA, began her heavenly journey on October 31, 2024. Known affectionately by her loved ones as Betty, Jeanne, Betty Jeanne, Aunt Jeanne, Nana, Nama, and simply, Mom, she left an indelible mark on the lives of everyone she encountered. A compassionate soul, her selflessness was evident in her unwavering dedication to her family and her steadfast commitment to her faith. The most important thing is that our Mom was beautiful. Betty was a woman of many talents and interests. She was creative, often expressing her artistry through quilting and gardening, and resilient in her endeavors, an attribute that saw her master the art of clam-digging and canning. Her thoughtful nature shone through her love for reading and her active involvement in book clubs like Friends of the Library and Page Turners. Her unrelenting spirit was also evident in her service in several organizations, including Lions, St. Peter Circle, Eagles, and the Tenino Reunion Committee. Betty's life was a testament to the verse from the Book of Matthew, "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." She lived this verse, always putting others before herself and preferring to carry out her good works without recognition. Betty Jeanne was a woman of the world, having travelled all over the world and lived in multiple cities from Seattle, WA, Los Angeles, CA, Marietta, GA, St. Louis, MO, Ocean Springs, MS, Lynnwood, WA, and finally settling in Tenino. She was a resilient woman, a trait she demonstrated in her professional life as an Executive Assistant in the government sector, and in her personal life, most notably in her enduring love for her family, who meant the world to her. Betty is survived by her loving daughters Pam Ivey, Terry (Fred) Guynn, Michelle (Larry) Lind, Leslie (John) Reed, her bonus children Tim (Sharon) Tretheway, Carolyn (Terry) Crawford, David (Bobbie) Tretheway and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will forever cherish her memory. She also leaves her sister-in-law Sissy Evans and dear friend Marilyn Ritter. Betty was preceded in death by her parents George Baumgardner and Elva Braham, her stepfather Clarence Braham, her husbands Edwin G. "Gib" Ivey, Jr. and Wilfred Tretheway, and her beloved daughter Becky (Dale) Marshel. The family would also like to thank her amazing care team at Assured Hospital/Centralia – Karen, Billy, Shannon and Chris. Please join us in celebrating Betty's life at the Newell-Hoerling's Mortuary on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 5:00 pm. A rosary will be said in her honor at St. Peter Catholic Church on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 10:00 am, followed by a Mass at 11:00 am.
