Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Betty Ellen Button, fondly known as Betty, who departed this life on May 8, 2025. Born in Tumwater, WA on October 21, 1938, to her parents Ona Hollandsworth and Opel Campbell. Betty was a beacon of compassion, creativity, and humor, touching the lives of everyone she met with her warmth and kindness. Betty was a thoughtful soul who loved life and lived it to the fullest. Her love for her family was immense, always ensuring their comfort and happiness were her top priority. She was a devoted mother to Jennifer (Juan) Archila, June Wentzel, Joan Wentzel, Betsy (Mike) Murphy, Jimmy Wentzel, and a loving sister to Bonnie Pratt. She was a cherished grandmother to Alejandra (Pedro) Camarena and Makayla (Wyatt) Bushnell, and her many other grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Her infectious laughter, home-baked pies, and stunning embroidery will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Betty lived her life in service to others, both as a housekeeper and in her personal life. What mattered most to Betty was her kids and her grandkids. She always made sure their tummies were full of loves and snacks, and she always made sure others stayed warm and comfy with a pillow or blanket that she sewed herself. What mattered the most to her was getting her fingernails painted by her grandkids and watching "Walker Texas Ranger" with her granddaughter. A member of the Tenino VFW, she was always ready to lend a hand to veterans in need. In her spare time, she loved to lose herself in crossword puzzles, watch her favorite soap operas and western flicks, and was rarely seen without her disposable camera, capturing precious moments. She loved spending time with her grand kids and her two cats, Charlie and Rocky. She always loved a good shopping trip for her love of chocolate, especially three musketeers! As the famous quote by Maya Angelou goes, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." This was truly the essence of Betty – a woman who made everyone feel loved and cherished. Betty's visitation will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 3:00pm PDT at Newell-Hoerling's Mortuary located at 205 West Pine Street, Centralia, Washington, 98531. We invite all those who knew and loved her to join us in celebrating her vibrant life. As we mourn the loss of our dear Betty, we encourage everyone to cherish her memory by sharing photos and stories on her memorial page. It is through these shared memories that Betty's spirit will continue to live on, inspiring us all with her kindness, creativity, and unforgettable sense of humor.
