Barbara Ann Pearson May 7, 1936 - July 20, 2026

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Barbara Pearson, who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Barbara was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Bluit and Roberta (nee Houston) Pearson. Barbara lived in a number of places in her life, however her favorite town was Orange, California where she met her best friend, Alice Vorpe. She also resided in Florida for quite a few years, and Hawaii for a year. The last few years of her life she moved close to her oldest daughter in Lewis County, Washington, living at Woodland Village and then South Creek Post Acute.

Barbara had an outgoing personality and made friends easily, becoming a cheerleader in high school. All her life she loved music and would sing along. As a child she was on the radio one time singing "How much is that doggie in the window". Since her father took her often as a young girl to the movies and afterwards for a cheeseburger; Barbara had a fondness for going to the movies and eating cheeseburgers.

Barbara spent most of her life as a housewife; however, she worked at a number of jobs as a recordkeeper and as an airport driver. As a hobby she liked team bowling and participated in numerous tournaments, coming home with quite a few trophies. She also really enjoyed reading, especially science fiction and fantasy. Later in life she found a passion for playing bridge and cards.

Barbara adored chihuahuas and really liked elephants. She raised quite a few chihuahuas and loved them dearly. She also donated yearly to a wildlife elephant rescue.

Barbara is survived by her sisters, Dee Ann Gruenewald, Terri Harris, and Ronna Esquivel; her daughter, Melanie Wirkkala, and her granddaughters, Natasha McTyre, and Casey Clifton.

She was preceded in death by her sisters; Myrna Combs, and Charlene Manes, her brother Charles Combs, her son John Braybrooks and her daughter Wendy Rockhold.

Barbara's presence, laughter, and kindness will remain in the hearts of those who loved her. Though she is gone, her memory will live on forever.
