Obituary

Arthur Elliot Davison October 21, 1922 ~ May 29, 2014 Art was born October 21, 1922, in Wenatchee, WA, son of Henry and Esther Davison. He died May 29, 2014, of complications from a stroke. Art graduated from Stevenson High School in 1940. Like most men of his age, he was drafted and served in the United States Navy in World War II, and was recalled to serve again during the Korean War. While stationed in Virginia in 1943, he met and married Margery Seaholm, with whom he had four daughters. After the war, Art returned to the Pacific Northwest and settled in the Longview-Vancouver area with his family. It is here where he began his career with the Washington State Highway Department (now called Washington Department of Transportation). He was most proud of his achievements in designing the section of I-5 from the I-5 and I-205 junction through Kalama. His work won the award from the state for the best design in 1967, the year construction was complete. In 1967, he was transferred to Wenatchee, where he served as District Reconnaissance Engineer, and District Maintenance Engineer. He spent many days in a helicopter above the North Cascades Highway in its final stages of construction, planning maintenance operations for the new roadway. He was also an active member of the Wenatchee Police Reserve. Art was active in the American Legion, in both the Salmon Creek and Wenatchee Posts, and served as the Washington State Commander. He was also a member of the Tin Can Sailor organization for U.S. Navy Destroyer veterans. In 1973, he retired from the Highway Department and married Connie Kay Murray. He continued his work as a highway engineer, this time overseas with projects in American Samoa, Nigeria, Algeria, and lastly in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. They returned to the U.S. in 1987, eventually settling in Newport, OR. After losing Kay to cancer in 2000, Art married Margaret (Maggie) Eberle, who passed away in late 2011. In 2012, he met the last great love of his life, Joyce Barnes, and moved to Centralia, WA. Art is survived by his brother, Richard Davison; his daughters, Candy Davison, Carol Plughoff, Valerie Rowe, and Lisa O'Keefe; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his beloved, Joyce Barnes and her family. At age 91, he lived a great, long life, but his sudden passing has saddened us all. A Celebration of Art's Life will be held on Saturday, June 7, at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Baptist Church, 1201 Belmont Avenue, Centralia, WA 98531. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his remembrance to the Mission Vista Quality of Life Fund, 630 N. Chelan Avenue, Suite A1, Wenatchee, WA 98801, providing care and support for the developmentally disabled in the greater Wenatchee area. Mission Vista has provided loving support since 1973 for his daughter, Candy.
