With sadness in our hearts, we said goodbye to Leslie Dale Goodwyn Parnell, 72, on Jan. 6,2019. She was born to Dale and Mildred Goodwyn in Chickasha, Oklahoma Dec. 4, 1946. She was the oldest of five siblings, helpful as a child, and always running around outside with her cousins and siblings. When her family moved to Napavine, Washington, she stayed behind to finish up her high school education, until she missed her family so much that she came to Washington also.
Leslie was working at the Skyline Restaurant, when she met Carl. It took him quite some time to get her to go out with him, and eventually proposed to her while he was working in Alaska. Leslie married Carl Dean Parnell, Dec. 7, 1968 in Onalaska. They had a daughter, Teresa and son, Wes. As a family they enjoyed many outings camping, fishing, traveling and Sunday drives.
Leslie had a life-long passion for Genealogy, and passed down that hobby to her daughter, Teresa. She was a member of the Lewis County Genealogical Society for over 30 years, and made many wonderful friends there. Over the years, Leslie and Carl took many trips with friends to Reno, Las Vegas and other local outings, and also shared countless card-game evenings.
Leslie is survived by her daughter, Teresa Jordan (Joey) of Olympia; son, Wes Parnell of Onalaska; mother Mildred Goodwyn of Onalaska; brother, Donald Goodwyn of Napavine, brother, Leon Goodwyn of Chehalis; grandchildren, Tess Bunch (Corey) of Toledo, Josh Curran of Olympia and Jasmine Millard (Colt) of Kittitas; step-grandchildren, Trevor and Laitan Jordan of Tenino; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Chloe of Toledo. She was Preceded in death by her father, Dale Goodwyn in 1994.
A Celebration of Life and Potluck will be held Jan. 12, 2019, 12:00 p.m., at the Onalaska Community Presbyterian Church, 288 Carlisle Ave., Onalaska, WA 98570.
