Leslie Baker Obituary

Leslie Baker is now dancing in the presence of her dear Lord and Savior. She passed away on Tuesday, February 26th, 2019, at age 52, surrounded by her loving family at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington. Leslie was born in Centralia, WA on August 1, 1966 and is a descendant of the original settlers of Grand Mound, the James family.  It is impossible to remember her without thinking of her contagious joy, bright laughter and intense love. On Valentine’s Day, she celebrated 27 years married to her husband, John Harold Baker III. The commitment she showed to loving her husband and her family will continue to inspire all those who knew her, especially her 6 adult children, Tony, Michelle, Kathy, John, Jennifer, and Normajean. She spent most of her adult life working with children and often seemed to share their awe-filled perspective on the world. This was a gift she also shared with her 19 grandchildren, with whom she spent countless hours and took on the most fun and creative adventures. Wherever she went, she seemed able to befriend all those around her with her sense of humor and generous spirit. She has left a lasting impact on the numerous communities she faithfully served, including the many schools, churches, Bible studies, and neighborhoods in both Washington and San Diego, which was her beloved sunny home for many years. She will be tremendously missed, but the lessons she taught us to live whole-heartedly for Jesus, to have fun in everything we do, and to love others through our actions will continue to be shared by all those who were blessed to have known her.

Services will be held Saturday, March 9th at 12:00 pm at Grand Mound Cemetery, 6300 183rd Ave SW in Rochester, Washington.
